I. EDITORIAL

Let's do things DIFFERENT. When we started this web site about 16
months ago, there was no intention whatsoever that it would be Greg Winget's
site. Greg Winget doesn't know much about SCI. But he's willing and eager to
learn...and appreciates those who teach him. Thousands of you who visit the CPN
site are suffering far more than Greg Winget. Are you willing to share your under-
standing with others in the General CPN Forum? Hundreds of you are even
smarter than Winget. Are you willing to provide research insights via the Research
Forum, for the benefit of us all? Why was this site started in the first place? It's in
the name...and Focus is everything. It's not Greg Winget's site...It's YOURS.

We are told that there are approximately 200,000 SCIs in the USA and
another 8,000 joining us each and every year. When will this stop? Of all the
suffering in this world, can you count on one hand how many people you know
who suffer more than an SCI? And yet how much is being done about it?
How many are actually helping the cure movement along?

Now, my intention is not to start a pity party. We've had enough of that already.
And at least as loathsome, are those who sit around waiting for nothing but a cure.
But when some of the top SCI researchers in the world become disheartened because
many SCI's themselves are so apathetic about cure... where do you expect their motivation
to come from? Given their dedication and educational background, they certainly don't get paid enough that money could be their primary motivational factor. What is it that keeps us from pulling together for one single cause? Sure, we want to make a living, and feel indepen-
dent now. But does that mean that we turn our back on helping ourselves and others?

Are we intimidated by those who say cure is impossible? Are we so hooked on
our pain-killers that we simply don't care, or do we simply have better things to spend
our time on? What's a couple hours a week, or $20 a month to you? We spend more than that on watching t.v. Can you imagine how much progress could be made for cure if each
of us contributed that much to the right cause?

Getting on with cure, do you realize that the essential difference between the able-bodied and the disable-bodied is in the informational and energy content of our respective bodies. Carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, and nitrogen, along with minute amounts of other elements are combined in all live human bodies. The essential difference is in the energy and the information. And part of that is up to each one of us. Remember this is your web site. Post what you will in the forums. Make suggestions, provide materials to help inform and energize the rest of us. A special sense of gratitude is felt toward those who do. The selfless acts of such giants as David Whalen, Barry Corbet, Bob Yant, Dennis Stuart, Paul Hock, and others who are rising above their challenges for the benefit of us all, will long be remembered. Consider joining ranks with these, as well as the comraderie of some of the
most enlightened multi-disciplinary researchers and investigators of our time. You'll be
glad you did.
