We have exciting news from the Texas Medical Center in Houston. For the first time in the history of the Medical Center, all three medical schools located here (Baylor, University of Texas-Houston, and University of Texas Medical Branch-Galveston) are jointly providing laboratory space and assistance for research for spinal cord regeneration.
The TIRR Emily Endowment has been set up to endow three research chairs to fund researchers who will work together. TIRR (The Institute for Rehabilitation and Research) has consistently been named by U.S. News and World Report as one of the Best Hospitals in the country.
On November 7, 1997, 10 of the top researchers in the field will meet in Houston re: sharing information, progress and to provide guidance to the TIRR staff in coordination of its new project. The night before, a gala event is planned as the initial large fundraiser. Charitable Foundations will be asked for pledges and we anticipate (and have already had) a great response.
